Products and services

Steel Hub delivers a wide assortment of coated steel in coils from Europe and Southeast Asia. We supply steel to the following major market segments:

Galvanized steel in coils

Galvanized steel in coils is used for the production of a wide range of products, mainly, for construction application. Depending on technical parameters, galvanized steel can be used for the production of drywall profiles, window profiles, trapezoidal profiles, flat sheet and strips, structural elements (frames and light constructions), consumer goods (buckets, washing boards, shovels, garden cars) and so on.

Main characteristics, that determine the quality and usage of galvanized steel coils, are:

1. Steel grade. The most common galvanized steel grades, used in construction, are: DX 51, S 220-S320 GD, S 350-S 550 GD, 08KP / 08PS, 3PS and others.

2. The thickness of the zinc layer on both sides together: varies from 20 g / m2 (Chinese low quality material) to 275 g / m2 (1 st galvanized steel grade) and even more (to 550 g / m2 – increased zinc grade).

3. Coil’s dimensions. Thickness of the galvanized steel coil may vary from 0,16 to 4 mm. Depending on the width of the coil, they can distinguish a strip – it’s a coil with up to 750 mm, and, coil, coil – from 750 to 1650 mm. Galvanized steel is usually supplied in coils weighing from 2 to 10 tons (less often – over 10 tons).

Galvanized steel is also distinguished by the so-called. zinc crystallization pattern or “spangle”. Modern manufacturers produce galvanized steel with mat surface. (so called. “mat”), but at the same time, spangled galvanized steel is also presented on the market (so called. “spruce”), mainly produced with old-fashioned equipment (for example, MMK. Ilycha, city. Mariupol, Ukraine).

Aluminum galvanized steel coils

Aluminum galvanized steel – is relatively new product in the metallurgical market. Alucinc – is tha alloy of aluminum (55%), zinc (43,4%) and silicon (1,6%). The main advantage of this alloy – is excellent anti-corrosion property, which allows it to be used in some aggressive environments, or if it is necessary to provide a guarantee for the building envelope (roof, or facade) of the building.

Compared to ordinary galvanized steel, aluminum-galvanized alloy allows an increase in durability in 3-6 times depending on the specification. The main application of aluzinc – is the production of cladding or roofing materials (corrugated sheets, flat sheets, accessories etc).

Unlike ordinary galvanized steel, aluminum-galvanized coils are usually supplied with an alloy content of 90 to 185 g / m2, which is equivalent 140 – 275 g / m2 zinc alloy. There is another major distinguishing feature of the specification of the aluminum-zinc alloy – AFP – anti-finger print – special protective film of 2-3 microns, applied to the surface of steel in order to prevent the appearance of dark spots during the further processing of this material.

Prepainted galvanized steel in coils

The technology of Prepainted steel production was patented by the british company British Steel in the late 60s. Since then, galvanized steel with a polymer coating is used in the construction and other industries as a material, having an optimal ratio of cost and durability, as well as attractive appearance.

Apart from the decorative function, polymer coating is an additional protection for galvanized steel against adverse environmental factors.

Modern production allow to apply a very wide range of coatings to galvanized steel, differing in the type of polymer, color, textures, etc.. The color of the polymer coating is usually selected according to the RAL color chart. (German color standard, developed in 1927 year), but there are other color standards as well.

It is also possible to deliver different specifications of prepainted galvanised steel of different coatings, both in standard and non-standard colors, as well as other types of coatings.

Please note! Galvanized steel with polymer coating from different producers and even different batches of prepainted steel from the same manufacturer can vary in color or shade, grit and texture. In case of additional order necessity – – please specify this feature to your manager.

Prepainted galvanized steel is widely used for the manufacture of various building envelopes., roof and facade materials, flat sheet and accessories. In recent years, there has been a steady increase in sales of this material in the Ukrainian and CIS markets., also attained, by replacing sales of traditional galvanized steel.

Also, one of the varieties of polymer coatings is a metal with an imitation of the structure of wood or stone, the so-called "Printech" (there are 2 types of "2D" coating itself and a more matte fine-grained "3D")

Varieties of protective and decorative coatings of steel

Today, there are many protective and decorative coatings.. Each coating is different in composition., UV-resistance (ability to not fade in the sun and keep color), resistance to temperature extremes and mechanical damage. Below there are main parameters of the most popular polymer coatings.

Glossy decorative and protective polyester coating. Usual thickness of the polymer layer of the face side in high-quality polyester of European origin – 25 microns. Generally this is one of the inexpensive coatings., with good plasticity and resistance to temperature extremes.

Products with this coating have relative corrosion resistance and a wide range of applications.. At the same time the coating has little resistance to mechanical damage and poor resistance to ultraviolet radiation.

The advantage of the coating is a big variety of colors, aesthetics, as well as a relatively reasonable price (low surcharge compared to ordinary galvanized steel).

This is protective and decorative mat finish based on polyester resin. it is plastic enough, has increased resistance to chemical attack and excellent mechanical properties, which are achieved due to the thickness of the coating – up to 35 microns (some producers do 40 – and more than that). The coating has good weather and corrosion resistance..

Due to mat, not a glossy surface, the coating has more attractive and “rich” texture, similar to natural materials. When using products from galvanized steel with mat coating as a roofing material – such roofs do not glare and visually create the impression of a more expensive material.

This is a polymer, consisting of polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers. Galvanized steel for roofs is covered with a layer of plastisol in 100 and 200 microns. Due to the large thickness, this coating is the most resistant to mechanical damage, high corrosion resistance, which creates additional protection in polluted environments, however, it has a relatively low color stability under conditions of excessive ultraviolet radiation, which means, it quickly fades in the sun in the southern regions. The coating has a relief surface – embossing, imitating skin or dash lines, which makes no glare.

This is a coating, consisting of polyvinyl fluoride (80%) and acrylic (20%). The coating thickness of PVDF is 27 μm, at the same time, it is characterized by strong stiffness with excellent plasticity. This polymer coating of PVDF (PVDF ) is the most resistant to any non-mechanical environmental influences, does not fade over time and provides increased resistance against water or snow corrosion, as well as against acids and alkalis. Thus, PVDF coated products are used, mostly, where, long-term color retention is required, as well as gloss and cleanliness of the surface.

Like polyester coating, PVDF has a smooth glossy surface. Special varnishes are often used to give even better attractiveness., which allows to convey a metallic shine or other interesting effects.

This is a polyurethane-based decorative protective polymer coating with polyamide. Pural coating is applied to galvanized steel with a layer of 50 microns. This coating is highly resistant to chemical, mechanical and environmental influences. This coating is resistant to UV radiation, has increased toughness, as well as high anti-corrosion properties and good resistance to mechanical damage. Mat Pural also has a more spectacular appearance..

Trade name Pural ( “Pural”) is a registered trademark of Ruukki (Finland).

An innovative polymer coating that reproduces complex natural patterns and gives the familiar and monotonous building exterior of buildings an elegant appearance. The cover is presented in more than 80 patterns.

Standard types and sizes of galvanized steel with polymer coating are indicated below (polymer steel coils).
